Your Freedom is available for Android (version 4.0 and above, does not need a rooted phone but benefits from it).
Please ensure that your Android phone or other Android device is running at least version 4.0 of Android ("Ice Cream Sandwich"). The YF app does not run on older versions because they are lacking the necessary VPN API.
The easiest way to install is to use Google Play. If you cannot access Google Play or prefer not to use it, get the APK file from our web page. If you don't know how to install APK files, it's simple. You need to enable external sources in the Settings - Security dialog (your phone will tell you how to do it if you attempt to install and it's not enabled). Then just open them (in the browser, your email application, whatever).
The app will run well on non-rooted (i.e. out-of-the-box) devices. However if you want to make use of some features (particularly ECHO mode connections) root access is required.

It has to be at least Android version 4.0, older versions will not work even if your phone is new
You need about 5 megabytes of free space for applications
Root access is a benefit but is not required

All downloads can be found on our downloads page, or install the app from Google Play. Once installed, you will receive automatic updates through Google Play; alternatively, click "Configure", "Update".
If you need an older version, just get it from the FTP directory.
How should I report problems?
Depends on whether YF crashes or not.
If it does not crash, please run in "dump mode" and reproduce the problem. The FAQ will tell you how to do that. Then send us the dump log (to android@your-freedom.net) with a description of the problem and how you can reproduce it.
If YF crashes, Android will likely offer you to send a report to the developers. We very much appreciate these reports, particularly if they come along with a short description of how to reproduce the problem and/or your email address if you are willing to help us with resolving the problem.
The most sophisticated way to report problems is to send us a "logcat". You'll need a PC and a USB connection to your device. (This means that the USB driver for your phone needs to be installed on the PC.) If you haven't got the Android SDK installed on your PC (very likely unless you are an app developer) please visit http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html, click on "Use an existing IDE" and download the SDK tools. Install them to a place where it's easy to access them; we recommend a simple path like "C:\android-sdk" outside the usual program files structure. Once they are installed, put your phone into USB debug mode (Settings, Developer options, USB debugging -- it is safe to leave this on all the time). Connect it to your PC. Now open a cmd window (click Start, type "cmd"), type "cd \android-sdk", then "cd platform-tools". Now type "adb devices" -- you should see your phone listed there (even if the word "device" is probably all you see). Type "adb logcat > somefile.txt" (change the filename to something more meaningful). Now reproduce the crash on your phone. When done, type Ctrl-C. Have a look at the file you created (in C:\android-sdk\platform-tools), there should be a "stack trace" near the end of the file. Send us this file along with a short description of what you did to cause the crash. Telling us what kind of device it is helps too. :-)
